Durant les années 30, une Française partage son appartement parisien avec un enseignant irlandais ainsi qu’une réfugiée espagnole. Alors que la guerre se profile à l’horizon, elle se plonge de plus en plus dans sa carrière de photographe et refuse de mettre de côté sa routine. Ses deux amis tenteront de l’embrigader dans la lutte au fascisme. Réussiront-ils ?

In the days before World War II, a fashion photographer named Gilda Besse (Charlize Theron) begins dating Cambridge student Guy Malyon. When he travels to Spain to join in the fight against the fascists, they break up, only to be reunited later when she has to risk her life for him.
